StateOfArt provides an online workspace for discovering, organizing, and synthesizing academic literature with AI assistance. Features may change during beta.
Accounts
You are responsible for credentials, accurate registration data, and activity under your account.
Acceptable use
- No unlawful access to copyrighted works; no circumvention of paywalls.
- No Sci-Hub or similar sources that distribute works without authorization.
- No attempts to disrupt the service, other users, or security controls.
Uploaded content
You warrant you have the right to upload PDFs and derived text you provide.
Academic integrity
You remain responsible for compliance with your institution's policies. AI output is assistive, not a substitute for scholarly judgment.
AI outputs
Verify all AI-generated text, citations, and claims before publication or submission.
Subscriptions
Paid plans are billed via Stripe. Fees, taxes, and renewal terms follow the checkout description and Stripe customer portal.
Cancellation & refunds
You can cancel paid subscriptions in the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation applies at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise required by law. Refunds are handled according to applicable law and case-by-case support review.
Intellectual property
We retain rights to the software and branding. You retain rights to your original content; you grant us a licence to host and process it to run the service.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. The service is provided "as is".
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breach, risk, or legal requirements.
Governing law
These terms are governed by applicable mandatory laws in the operator's place of establishment. Any dispute not resolved amicably may be submitted to competent courts under those laws.
